Community Learning Opportunities in Alberta: Food Work & Advocacy

At the JHC, we believe that strong communities are built through shared learning and collective action. That’s why we’re excited to invite you to two meaningful events designed to support community advocates, organisers, and anyone passionate about positive change in Edmonton and beyond.

Tools for Community Advocacy: Navigating City of Edmonton Processes

January 28, 2026 | 5:30 - 7:00 PM MST | Online | Free

Whether you’re new to community advocacy or looking to deepen your impact, this free online session will help you better understand how to engage with and influence local decision-making. From navigating city processes to finding your voice in civic spaces, this is a chance to build confidence and skills alongside neighbours who care about making Edmonton stronger and more inclusive.

Presenters from the City of Edmonton will provide an overview of the role and scope of the City and Council's responsibilities, provide an hands-on demonstration of how to find and interpret the City of Edmonton's website and City council calendars, and provide examples of how to engage with municipal decision-making.
