You are invited to participate in an Indigenous Rights, Healthcare Advocacy Training & Coalition Building gathering in Thompson, Manitoba, taking place from May 31 to June 3, 2026.
This initiative is part of a broader, grassroots effort to support Indigenous community members, families, and community-based leaders in addressing racism and systemic barriers in healthcare.
This is an invitation to step into an ongoing role as part of an emerging healthcare coalition.
Day 1 will be a forum and community feast open to Indigenous community members, relatives, and caregivers.
On Days 2 to 4, invited participants will attend training and actively contribute to and help shape the coalition’s development through sharing knowledge, participating in discussions or initiatives as capacity allows, supporting the development of advocacy strategies and documentation of systemic issues, and engaging in collective efforts aimed at advancing rights and systemic change.
This opportunity is intended for individuals who are interested in remaining connected beyond the training and contributing in ways that are feasible to ongoing coalition activities. While levels of involvement will vary, we are seeking volunteers who see themselves as part of a collective effort.
To confirm your interest, please register below and include a brief statement of up to 200 words on why you want to be part of this coalition, the experience you bring, and, if you are non-Indigenous, your understanding of the issues.
Please register confirming your interest by May 15, 2026. If you have any questions, contact parveen@jhcentre.org.
This gathering is a sacred space to honour lived experience, support one another, and build community-led action for safer care and real accountability.
Relatives helping relatives: building collective safety now, and structural change next.
