Invitation Rapid Fire Theatre

To All People living with Disability

We would like invite you to be part of a supported Improv Workshop Series with Rapid Fire Theatre

Improv is all about listening, and accepting, and raising the stakes. Improv theatre uses audience suggestions which performers use to create characters, scenes and stories that challenge the audience, and inspire hilarity. Learn improv techniques, character development and new ways to support and collaborate with others.

Bringing Disability to the Forefront in the fight to End Poverty

In 2015, as part of the End Poverty Edmonton strategy and movement, the John Humphrey Centre for Peace and Human Rights (JHC) initiated the YEG Dignity Campaign as an effort to break the stigmatization of poverty and get the community talking about poverty with compassion.

YEG Dignity 2018 aims to highlight the intersectionality of lived experiences of the community living with disabilities in and around Edmonton. This initiative is an effort to amplify the voice of people with disability and their daily struggle to end poverty and be included in Edmonton. The goal is to educate the able bodied community to understand the privileges of ableism and be aware of the systemic barriers.

We are inviting applications to participate in a six session workshop series in partnership with Rapid Fire Theatre. This team will work together to develop a performance to be showcased on Global Dignity Day on Wednesday, October 17 2018 at the Grindstone Theatre from 5pm-8pm.
