The Ignite Change Now! Program is one of the John Humphrey Centre’s most comprehensive projects for developing, fostering and mentoring youth leadership. Comprised of several components, the Ignite Change Now! Program encourages youth from urban and rural communities to explore human rights issues and themes, network and come up with creative solutions to local and global issues.

The four components of the Ignite Change Now! Program:
1. Ignite Change Now! Global Youth Assembly: the biennial conference for youth between the ages of 16-28, the GYA is a 4 day action-packed experience guaranteed to fire up passions for local and global issues, construct creative action plans for change and meet fellow youth who are old hands at being passion-driven entrepreneurs or just getting started.
2. Ignite Change Now! Rural Youth Program: the Rural Youth Program is focused on bringing the rural youth voice to the forefront of policy discussions and engaging rural youth in positive leadership and social action in their communities and throughout the province. The Rural Outreach coordinator goes out to Rural communities in Alberta to conduct workshops to explore the issues in the community. This will culminate with a Rural Youth Forum in the fall (details forthcoming).
3. Ignite Change Now! Youth Action Project: the Youth Action Project is an Edmonton-based program for youth between the ages of 15-26 to explore human rights issues in our community. Youth are taken on a cross-Edmonton tour of various human rights organizations where they are given an overview with people who work in their respective fields. The program also features inspiring speakers and wraps up with a volunteer placement at one of the organizations toured. A great way to get involved with human rights issues on the local level!
4. Ignite Change Now! Youth Voices Publications: a collaborative online publication answer the question–“what does it mean to build a community? We are looking for submissions from youth (preferably between the ages of 16-28 but we are very flexible) to share their thoughts about building community.
